Bright, balanced, and built for the first cup of the day. Augusta's Organic Breakfast is a medium roast with notes of cherry, citrus, and milk chocolate — full-bodied enough for drip or press pot, smooth enough to pull as a balanced espresso, and delicious over ice.

Grown by the Chirinos Cooperative in Cajamarca, Peru

Augusta's comes from Chirinos, a cooperative in the San Ignacio province of Peru's Cajamarca region, founded in 1968 by 36 coffee producers and now 867 members strong. The coffee grows between 1,200 and 2,200 meters — Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, Pache and Catimor varieties, hand-picked by co-op members and their families during the August–November harvest, then washed and dried.

Chirinos is Fair Trade and Organic certified, and the organic part is not nominal. Members fertilize using only compost, worm bins and guano, and control pests and plagues naturally, without pesticides or herbicides. Each producer group works with an experienced agronomist dedicated to organic production and quality control, and the co-op uses an innovative composting method called gaicashi — developed by Colombian agronomist Edgar Blandon — to turn organic material into potent natural compost. We buy this coffee through Sustainable Harvest, the Portland-based, B Corp certified importer we have partnered with for years.

Certified Organic, Verified End to End

Augusta's is one of only two Certified Organic coffees in our Family Line. Nossa Familia is itself a Certified Organic handling facility under Oregon Tilth, which means the organic integrity of this coffee is verified from the green beans we buy all the way through the roasted bag we ship you — not just at the farm gate. Read how our direct trade model works, or meet the farms and cooperatives we buy from.

Coffee From a Certified B Corp

Every bag of Augusta's is roasted by a Certified B Corporation. That's not a label we bought — it's a set of commitments we're audited against: 100% renewable energy across all Nossa Familia facilities, Loring roasters that cut roasting energy and emissions by up to 80%, extensive zero-waste programs in our roastery and cafés, and at least 1% of annual gross profits donated to nonprofits every year.

Our family has been growing coffee since 1890. Augusta's is what that century-plus of practice tastes like on an ordinary Tuesday morning.
